What Is a Large Language Model (LLM)?

A large language model is a program trained on huge amounts of text, from which it learns the patterns of language — how words, sentences, and ideas relate to one another.

How it works, simply put

When you type a question, the model isn't searching a ready-made database. It's predicting the most likely next word based on the patterns it learned during training. String enough of those predictions together and you get a full sentence, a paragraph, even a long reply.
